There are seasons when life feels very slow. You pray, you wait, and wait and wonder if God has forgotten you. Sometimes you compare your timeline to everyone else's and question why your growth seems invisible. But then God reminds us of the lilies.
Lilies are rare flowers where they grow in their own season, they grow through a process. They don’t bloom all year, but in a right time (Ecclesiastes 3:1). They don't compete with the flowers beside them or rush the changing seasons. They simply remain where they are planted, receiving the rain and the warmth of the sun that God provides. At the right time, they bloom naturally and beautifully. Exactly what God created them to be.
Sometimes we become so eager to grow that we try to control everything, forgetting who is really holding it. We think that if we want to achieve growth, we have to try everything. We convince ourselves that rushing, forcing things, and taking control will make everything work.
But when our plans don't work out, the effect on our lives can be really overwhelming. We become frustrated, discouraged, and even question why things aren't happening the way we expected. In those moments, we forget that God's timeline is different from ours. No matter how much we try to make things happen, if it's not part of His timing, it simply won't happen.
Growth was never meant to be forced, it was always meant to be surrendered. God isn't asking us to anxiously chase growth or control every outcome. He's asking us to trust Him with it. The God who planted the seed knows exactly when it is time for it to grow, and His timing is always better than our own.
Just like a lily, we are called to patiently wait for our season, growing through the process God has designed for us. Before a lily blooms, its roots grow deep beneath the surface, unseen but essential. In the same way, God often works in us before He works through us. His timing is never late, even when the waiting feels long or the process seems slow. As we continue to trust Him and surrender to His plan, we will eventually see the beautiful purpose He has been preparing all along. Some seasons are meant for waiting, some for pruning, and some for blooming—but every season has a purpose in His hands.
